Heiner Manten: “Manten built a cold store in 2017 for by-products for the Asian market. We needed a high volume packaging solution to pack the products in bags and boxes for the Asian market. We found this solution at DGS.”

Manten family business

Heinrich Manten and his wife founded the abbatoir in 1951. To this day, the company has been run by family members. Treating each other with the utmost respect has always been an important condition within the company. The Manten Group has developed into a group of modern companies which slaughter, bone and further process 22,000 pigs per week. The group supplies almost the entire world with 3000+ pork products. In addition, they also supply 900+ beef and organic pork and beef products in Germany.

The second generation is currently at the helm of the company in Olpe in Germany – Heiner and Peter Franz Manten. The third generation has now also started and Heiner Manten is very proud of the many family members who are active within the company. The employees are deemed to be very important to the business, as Manten chose to employ the employees himself five years ago.

DGS volume batcher for efficient packaging

“We purchased the DGS Volume Batcher, because we want to package products for the Asian market”, according to Heiner. “Dennis Grolleman from DGS was already a familiar face at Manten. We realised it could work for us too when we saw the Volume Batcher installed at a good relation of ours.”

We can pack a total of 40 tons of meat products per day with the Volume Batcher. “We would need at least double the number of people to pack those kinds of quantities without the Volume Batcher. We have opted for the configuration that allows for products to be packed using the soldier pack method.”
